New Rules for Pet Transportation by Ukrzaliznycia: What Pet Owners Need to Know
10.07.2024
Ukrzaliznycia recently announced changes to the conditions for transporting pets on trains. The Charity Fund "Direct Inclusion" has compiled the updated information in a new article.
What are the new rules for traveling with pets on trains?
- Along with "hard carriers," specialized backpacks for carrying pets are now allowed, provided they have a waterproof surface that absorbs liquid.
- Small pets up to 45 cm at the withers can move around the compartment under supervision for short periods for moderate movement and sleep.
- Large dogs over 45 cm long can stay in first class and RIC wagons if the compartment is fully booked and Intercity+ if all seats in the seating block are purchased.
- Dogs serving with Defense Forces representatives can travel for free in any type of wagon, provided they have a leash and muzzle.
If other passengers experience discomfort or allergic reactions to pets, railway staff will provide alternative seating arrangements.
