How can we help the territorial defense fighters?
30.03.2023
The territorial defense forces played a crucial role at the beginning of the full-scale invasion by the Russian army into Ukraine last year. Citizens of different ages and professions, in most cases with no real combat experience, stood up to defend their hometowns and hold back the enemy's advance on many fronts. Today, the mission of the territorial defense forces is no less important. Some units join military groups and continue to perform combat missions in the hottest spots on the front line. In this article, the Charitable Foundation “Pryame Vklyuchennya” will tell you how we can help the territorial defense forces.
Basic necessities
Today, the Territorial Defense Forces of Ukraine consist of 25 brigades, which, in turn, comprise more than 150 battalions. Each formation includes between 400 and 800 individuals, so one can only imagine the scale of the citizens involved. Each of them is a person who has a need for regular food, medical care and protection.
Many volunteers today are engaged in preparing hot meals for the defenders. You can also join this type of work by signing up with the relevant headquarters in your locality. This information is easy to find on the Internet.
The help of medical professionals is also very important. If you have the time and desire to do this, once again, do not hesitate to contact your local volunteer headquarters.
Finally, support for territorial defense forces can also be material. Many supermarket chains now leave carts at the cash registers where you can put grains, canned goods, wet wipes, wool socks, medicine, and other basic necessities that will be sent directly to the military. Typically, there is an information sheet with recommended items for purchase near such corners.
Do not forget about donations. Charitable organizations have a clear list of needs from the soldiers, so by sending 5, 10 or 200 hryvnias you are guaranteed to buy the necessary things for them.
Technical equipment and transport
Drones, radios, thermal imagers, power banks, and vehicles are always needed on the defense line. Even with significant help from volunteers and Western partners, the technical equipment for Ukrainian soldiers is insufficient. Vehicles often break down when they come under fire or encounter an explosive shell. Not everyone can buy a new equipment for territorial defense fighters, even if it is a drone. But it is possible to close several such large-scale gatherings with joint efforts. This underscores the importance of donations, large and small.
Assistance in creating shelters
To effectively carry out their duties, territorial defense fighters require adequate security conditions. First of all, it includes the installation of special shelters and the formation of trenches. Often, caring local residents are involved in such work, and together the work is done much faster. The military administration of the district/settlement can provide information about joining a group of volunteers to strengthen the positions.
Any help for the soldiers today is important. While someone is fighting for our lives at the borders, we have to work for theirs on our volunteer front.
