According to official data, before the full-scale war in Ukraine, there were about 70,000 orphans and children deprived of parental care. Unfortunately, with the outbreak of hostilities on the territory of our country, this number has expectedly increased. This is not just a statistic, but the fate of people who are going through a painful experience at the moment and need the support of caring fellow citizens. In this article, the charitable foundation “Pryame Vklyuchennya” will tell you why it is necessary to help orphanages and how to do it correctly.

The needs of such institutions

Currently, orphanages and boarding schools are going through a difficult period. Even in peacetime, they felt a lack of clothing, stationery, household chemicals, etc., and today even more so. The legislation provides for a limited number of wardrobe items and their renewal period for children in such institutions. It's specified that they are provided with four pairs of socks per year, one jacket for three years, etc. For example, a child may have to use one pillow for eight years. All those things that we can change at any time, children deprived of parental care receive within specified periods. One does not need to be a mother or father to know how quickly children's clothing wears out.

In addition, children's homes need toys, medicines, and infant formula. In general, everything that parents buy for their children is on the list of things needed for these institutions.

Every child has the right to childhood!

Many people, having decided to improve the fate of children in Ukrainian orphanages, do so in the wrong way. One of the mistakes is a one-time personal visit to the institution. Children need your attention and care, but it should be provided regularly. Remember that this little ones have already felt abandoned multiple times. Therefore, if you cannot visit them at least once a month, you should not do it at all.

The best option is to contact a charitable organization. Volunteers are people who often visit orphanages and children's homes. The charitable foundation “Pryame Vklyuchennya” actively cooperates with such institutions, in particular, in Dnipropetrovsk and Mykolaiv regions. The heads of these institutions are aware of the needs of their wards and can provide detailed lists. Therefore, you have at least 2 options for donation:

• send the necessary items directly to the orphanage (for example, by post);
• transfer a convenient amount to the account of a charitable foundation.

Keep in mind that there are certain legislative requirements regarding the things that can be donated to such institutions. For example, clothing must be new and clean, and toys must be of high quality and aimed at development. Moreover, for most of the items you will want to bring, a quality certificate is required. If you have the opportunity to make your help really useful, take some time to study this issue. Or contact the volunteers right away and be sure that the children will receive targeted help.
