What are the needs of military personnel?
08.03.2023
Two years ago, Ukrainian women celebrated March 8th of March with flowers, gifts, and warm greetings. Today, they change their heels to a beret, and bouquets to weapons and stand up for the defense of the Motherland from the occupiers. The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reports that the number of female military personnel in Ukraine reaches more than 57,000, of which 3,500 are senior officers. Today, the charity foundation "Pryame Vklyuchennya" will talk about what Ukrainian military women need and how we can help them with it.
Comfort and safety
One of the main problems faced by women on the front is clothing. The fact is that military units cannot always provide small sizes of shoes and uniforms, which significantly affects the combat effectiveness of female soldiers. Women's uniform is not approved by law, but there is a need for them. The point is not only that clothes should be smaller than men's, but also the need to take into account the peculiarities of physiology.
To effectively perform their work, fighters need comfortable ammunition. It is very difficult to do this in breeches, which are two sizes larger than necessary.
Hygiene products
Another significant problem for our women defenders is that they have to provide themselves with means of personal hygiene because the army does not provide this. Most often, the "magic wand" in this matter is volunteers or relatives of women who deliver parcels for them. At the same time, it cannot be claimed that all servicemen eventually receive what they need.
Body armor
The thing is that standard body armor and plate carriers are not designed for women, because they weigh a lot. But protecting the body from enemy bullets and projectile fragments is the most important aspect for a fighter of any gender. Therefore, there is no option to refuse to wear the kit. What to do?
Solutions are already emerging. Ukrainian manufacturers began to offer fighters lightweight plate carriers weighing 2.3 kilograms made of armored steel. They have anatomical curves for the chest and are made according to state standards. Another issue is that the army does not provide women in the Armed Forces with such equipment. All hope lies in volunteers, caring Ukrainians, and the families of the heroines.
How to make the stay of Ukrainian women at the front more comfortable?
One of the easiest ways to help is to donate the requisites of benefactors who sew uniforms adapted to women, create lightweight body armor, distribute hygiene products, etc. You can also join the initiatives of domestic brands offering to "hang up" their products for military servicewomen. Or just buy dry shampoo, sanitary napkins, and wet wipes and deliver the package to formations that include women. This information can be found online.
The charity foundation "Pryame Vklyuchennya" actively helps military personnel, both women and men: with ammunition, food, transport, etc. We ask everyone who cares to join active gatherings to speed up our victory and bring all mothers, wives, daughters, and sisters home.
