Tips for staying healthy during the war
26.01.2023
Many people in Ukraine are trying to understand how to help themselves in this super difficult time. It is not only about the moral state of the body, but also the physical. Constant reports of missile attacks, explosions, and the threat of new offensives by the enemy are exhausting. Stress is also experienced by those who are abroad because they are worried about their relatives and friends who have remained at home. In this article, we will tell you what you should pay attention to in order to preserve your own health during the war.
The urgency of the problem
Exacerbation of existing diseases is what Ukrainians face most often today. That is why you should monitor the condition of your body. Viktor Liashko, Minister of Healthcare of Ukraine, said as early as last summer that emotional exhaustion from negative information flow accelerates people's biological aging. That's why 40-year-olds can encounter diseases that usually bother 60-year-olds.
This year, the Minister of Health predicts a rapid increase in the number of heart attacks, strokes, and oncological diseases. In order to avoid falling into sad statistics, the National Health Service of Ukraine provided a whole list of recommendations about personal care during the war.
Advice from the National Health Service of Ukraine
The Service advises using four simple rules:
- Consult with your family doctor. Ask him or her for advice about exercise and healthy eating. Follow instructions and add new activities to your life whenever possible. Being active has a positive effect on the overall health of the human body and gives you energy and improves your mood.
- Check your vital health parameters regularly. Measuring blood pressure from time to time is useful for everyone. And even more so for people with cardiovascular disease. Diabetics should also check their blood sugar levels more often.
- Make the necessary appointments. You may have planned a visit to the doctor just before a full-scale war broke out, but had to leave home or put it off until later. Now is a good time to return to this issue.
- Take the prescribed medicine. Ukrainians who receive drugs through the government program "Affordable Medicines" due to moving to new regions often stop using them. Perhaps the main reason lies in the fact that few people know about the operation of this program throughout the territory of Ukraine, regardless of the location of the Ukrainian.
Doctors say it will cost much more to restore your health than maintain it satisfactorily. To prevent negative consequences, start taking care of yourself now.
