The Ministry of Energy reports on capacity shortages almost every day due to the shelling of our critical infrastructure by the Russian army. The state offers a practical solution in addition to asking the population to save kilowatts: every adult Ukrainian will be able to exchange old incandescent lamps for energy-saving ones for free from January 1, 2023. Read more about the details of the program in the article.

How many lamps is it possible to get?

First Deputy Head of the Ministry of Economy Yulia Svyrydenko told about a new initiative from the state during the telethon "Yedynyi Novyny", within the framework of which it is planned to provide the population with 50 million LED lamps for free use. The main goal of this program is to reduce the level of electricity consumption among households to minimize the transition to emergency blackouts.

According to her, all adult citizens of Ukraine will be able to receive 5 new energy-saving lamps starting from January 1. It will be necessary to take old incandescent lamps and bring them to the "Ukrposhta" office. Everything can be done virtually - the corresponding functionality is about to appear in the "Diya" service in order not to waste time on the application.

Duration of the initiative

It is currently known that the program will last long enough for everyone to benefit from it. The number of LED lamps is indicated at 50 million units, but it may increase if there is an appropriate demand.

Recently, Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal reported on agreements with the European Commission to finance the purchase of 30 million energy-saving lamps. He also stated that the commissioning of 50 million units of these light sources will help the system save 1 GW of electricity and reduce the deficit in the grid.
