The massive shelling of the critical infrastructure of Ukraine, which the enemy army is resorting to more and more often, made millions of residents of our country think about security and communication. If it is still possible to provide the house with electricity (for example, with the help of a generator), you cannot do the same with mobile connection by your own. In this article, we will tell you what to do in case of lost connection.

When access to the network has completely disappeared

The State Service for Special Communications and Information Protection of Ukraine has created a Telegram bot, in which you can get all the necessary instructions related to information hygiene and security. In particular, it contains a list of actions in case of sudden disappearance of network coverage after enemy fire. It looks as follows:

  • turn off automatic network selection in your device settings;
  • find another available operator and select it (UA-KYIVSTAR, Vodafone UA or lifecell);
  • try again or choose a different network if connection failed;
  • call or text another number to test functionality.

Tariffs remain unchanged, according to the conditions of your operator. An important thing when changing settings is to return to your network at least once a day.

In order to avoid network overload, it is worth limiting the use of mobile traffic during an emergency situation. To do this, turn off the photo and video auto-download mode in your messengers. This can be done in the app settings.

If possible, connect to your home Wi-Fi network and use a landline. If you need to contact someone, it is better to use SMS. It is possible that at this moment someone needs a connection to call the emergency services.

Applications that provide communication without a stable Internet connection

Today, you can find a bunch of apps to download to your smartphone that work without network coverage. The following are the most popular:

Bridgefy. The developer of this application assures that it allows users to exchange messages even without a network connection.

Walkie Talkie. This app can reportedly turn your phone into a real walkie-talkie. It requires at least a minimal Wi-Fi connection.

Test these applications in advance. They can become one of the options for establishing communication with relatives, but you should not completely rely on them.

National mobile operators assure that in the event of technical problems, the coverage restoration period will be the minimum possible. Therefore, you should not panic if your relatives are suddenly "out of the zone" - it is better to take care of your own safety and wait until the specialists solve the problem.
