What to do if the heating suddenly disappeared: step-by-step guide
28.11.2022
The enemy army does not stop trying to leave Ukrainians without all basic infrastructure this winter. We already know how to live without light, but we don’t know what to do if the heating disappears in an instant. Ahead are the coldest days of the year, so the question becomes relevant right now. In this article we will talk about preparing for such a situation and the places where it is guaranteed to be possible to heat and recharge.
What to stock up on?
Attacks on power grids and heating plants can leave Ukrainians without heating at any time. That is why it is worth to form a reserve of the necessary things today. What it is necessary to prepare:
- water (potable and technical);
- food;
- flashlight (and batteries for it);
- candles;
- power banks;
- matches;
- medicines.
All this should be enough for 3 days. If there is a baby in the family, it is worth preparing food, diapers and wet wipes for him. Also stock up on pet food.
The heating disappeared: first steps
You should monitor the condition of the heating radiators. If you notice that they have started to get cold, move to one of the rooms and close the doors, windows, and curtains tightly. From now on, this is your sleeping place. Turn on the electric heater. Do not turn on more than one appliance, as this can overload the network and make not only the heat, but also the light disappear. The safest means of heating is the air conditioner.
If you can temporarily stay with relatives or friends who do not have problems with heating, do it. Agree with them on joint actions in emergency situations.
Keep your body warm. First of all, dress well. Drink and eat hot food regularly. This will reduce the risk of hypothermia.
Don't forget to follow the official reports. The authorities should report on the extent of the accident, the approximate recovery time of heat supply and the location of heating points.
How will the heating points work?
Today, "Points of Invincibility" have been prepared in all territorial communities. These are where the population can get free heat, electricity, Internet, water and medicine around the clock. The deployment of this project was announced by President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. According to him, the "Points of Invincibility" will start working when massive enemy strikes disrupt critical infrastructure and it becomes clear that it will not be possible to quickly restore communications. A map of the location of such places can be found here.
Remember that panic in an emergency is your enemy. By understanding in advance what needs to be done, you can save your life and health.
