Today, the aggressor-state inflicts massive attacks on the critical infrastructure of Ukraine. At risk are thousands of homes and millions of families who remain without electricity, water and heating. Today we will talk about how to prepare in case you have to spend some time without engineering communications.

Preparatory actions

First of all, make sure you have an “emergency suitcase”. What should be in it:

  • Battery-powered night lights and lamps;
  • Power banks;
  • Lanterns;
  • Candles and matches;
  • Radio that works without direct connection to electricity.

In addition, always have a certain supply of water at home, in amount “5 liters per person”. The most convenient option for storage is in six-liter plastic containers or in glass jars. Put fever-reducing, pain-relieving, antiviral, anti-allergic and sedative medicines in the “suitcase”. Make sure they have not yet expired.

The next important point is food. There should be enough pasta, cereals and canned goods in the pantry, and ready-to-eat food in the refrigerator. This does not mean that you need to buy all the food from your store. Just make sure you always have enough supplies in case an emergency happens that day.

Check the serviceability of your stove. The main problem that Ukrainians face is the gas leak. You may not notice it now, but in winter it will be difficult to find a master. Also, if the cooking surface is electric, it will be advisable to purchase a gas tourist burner.

Heating

The most important question of Ukrainians today is “How not to freeze if the heating suddenly disappears?” Your first step to ensure a warm winter is to make sure you have warm blankets and clothes.

If you have air blowing through cracks in the windowsill or in the windows, it is worth covering them up. The most convenient is to do it with mounting foam - it is light and dries quickly.

For those who live in their own house, the advice is this: take care of the alternative. That is, if you have electric heating and a wood-burning stove - if necessary, repair the latter and create a stock of firewood. It should be done today, because the temperature bar is only going down every day. Another option for private homeowners is an electric generator. If you have the opportunity to buy one - definitely do it.

Prepare your car

If the lights go out for a long time, gas stations will stop working. That is why it is necessary to take care of the supply of fuel and the availability of antifreeze. Check the technical condition of the car and prepare it in case you have to go on a long trip.

What should be done to avoid power cuts in the country?

Due to the constant attacks of the enemy on Ukrainian power plants, information appeared about the so-called "fan" (alternating) power cuts. They are used in cases where the load on the network is too high, due to which it is impossible to restore it.

In order to minimize the chance of implementing such measures, the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi, called for limiting electricity consumption during peak hours - from 6:00 to 9:00 and from 17:00 to 23:00. At this time, you should refrain from excessive use of electrical appliances, in particular washing machines, microwave ovens, electric kettles, etc. You can get more detailed information in the Ukrenergo Telegram channel at the link.
