In Ukraine, the struggle for statehood and the integrity of borders has been going on for more than six months. At this time, each of us helps the military in available ways: some join the ranks of the cyber army, others actively help financially. Another important structural unit of Ukrainian volunteers are those who weave camouflage nets. Why it is so necessary to continue doing this and how to join this type of help you will learn in this article.

Why does the military need nets?

Camouflage nets at the front are an indispensable thing. It is used to cover a variety of objects and potential targets: equipment, ammunition storage sites, personnel headquarters, trenches and even people. For military personnel, so-called "kikimori" are produced, which cover the entire body and literally make soldiers invisible to the enemy (unless they use thermal imaging cameras, of course).

On the front line, camouflage nets are consumables. They tear, stretch, and burn. In winter, there is a need to change the nets to white in order to adapt to new landscapes and remain invisible to the enemy.

Weaving nets

Volunteers make camouflage nets for the Ukrainian army. In most cases, organizations involve the people who are not indifferent in charitable work. These can be both schoolchildren or students, as well as retirees who have free time.

The following materials are required for weaving such a camouflage:

• fishing net;
• khaki, dark green, black or gray fabric (lightweight and cotton to avoid instant burning).

Usually, the fishing net is stretched over the frame for easy weaving. The fabric is cut into strips 4 centimeters wide and up to 100 centimeters long. Depending on the size of the "cells" of net, you need to choose the optimum density of tying ribbons. The density of the product should be medium to mask the military and at the same time allow them to observe what is going on around them. It is also important that the netting is lightweight.

How to start weaving nets?

To join a weaving camouflage nets, go online. Most likely, by searching for "weaving nets *name of the locality*" you will find a volunteer headquarters that is engaged in similar activities near you. For security reasons, we will not publish any locations where the process of helping the Armed Forces of Ukraine takes place. If you do not have the opportunity to make nets with other volunteers you can give the materials for this to the appropriate headquarters or weave the product yourself and give it to any military unit.
