If the child needs medical assistance, call an ambulance and take immediate action if you or those around you have the necessary skills.

Don't forget to consider the child's emotional state. It's helpful to calm them down and ask if they would like something to drink, their name, where they live, and details about their family, including when they last saw them. If the child has the phone numbers of any adults, try calling them.

After that, call 102 to explain the situation to law enforcement, then take the child to the police station or a volunteer center. It's best to do this near where you found the child. You can also notify the child protection service; information about this should be available on the main pages of local government bodies.

If time is running short before the police or other services arrive, call the relevant law enforcement agency to arrange a safe location to leave the child, such as a hospital or train station.
