For centuries, our enemies have tried to enslave the Ukrainian people, but we have stayed and will forever stay an independent nation, determined to shape our path of continuous growth. The will and thirst for freedom are deeply ingrained in every Ukrainian.

We remember every step on our journey to full autonomy. The historic moment when Viacheslav Chornovil led the procession to bring the flag into the Verkhovna Rada on August 24, 1991, has become a cherished symbol of our national identity. Our blue skies and golden fields have become the true colors of the national code.

This is the day to thank everyone who has played a role in defending our homeland. Our soldiers are shedding their blood for freedom, volunteers are giving everything they have, and medical professionals are sleeplessly saving the lives of our defenders. Their sacrifices are the foundation of our freedom, allowing us to speak, write, and read in Ukrainian, to feel the warmth of the sun on our faces, and to remember our roots, our families, and our Ukraine.
