The Ukrainian state emerged over a thousand years ago, and we are the heirs of this great idea. Traditionally, the statehood holiday falls on the day of Rus-Ukraine's baptism. One thousand thirty-six years ago, Prince Volodymyr the Great made an important choice and directed our nation towards civilization and unity.

Neither hordes, empires, nor totalitarian regimes forced us, Ukrainians, to renounce our identity and abandon our desire to be masters of our land. We realized that after all our ancestors had gone through for centuries, we would never give up our independence but would fight for what was rightfully ours.

Today, united in our courage and determination, Ukrainians are creating a new history. The bravery of our soldiers and the unity of all citizens will forever be remembered as an inspiring example of a courageous and selfless struggle for freedom.
