If you decide to help other people and donate your blood or its separate components, first, you must take care of yourself and adequately prepare for the procedure. At the same time, the question of how to recover after the donation is no less critical. Neglecting such a moment is hazardous because donation is constantly exhausting for the body. In such a case, the main task of the donor is to quicken their recovery.

The Charity Fund "Direct Inclusion" has prepared several rules for the rapid recovery of blood donors after this vital procedure.

What products should be included in the diet?

To properly support the body after blood donation, focusing on eating food that contains much iron for several weeks is necessary. These are, in particular, meat products, liver, cereals, peas, broccoli, spinach, etc. You can add food with vitamin C to it, which also helps it absorb the necessary components better. These include citrus fruits, tomatoes, and red, yellow, and orange sweet peppers.

At the same time, it is better to avoid tea and coffee, dairy and chocolate products, and eggs. They interfere with the assimilation of iron, which is the opposite of a desirable diet effect.

The blood will generally reach the required iron saturation in 21 days.

The Charity Fund "Direct Inclusion" reminds Ukrainians of the importance of donating blood. The current demand for donors is immense, and if every citizen commits to this simple yet invaluable procedure once every three months, countless lives of fellow Ukrainians can be saved.
