Ten years ago, in the heart of Ukraine, on Independence Square, thousands of our fellow citizens from all over the country and the world gathered to defend their freedom and happy future. While the civilian population was armed with unity, strength of spirit, and courage, the then-current government used real bullets and grenades. During the 94 days of the struggle that changed the course of history forever, 107 patriots, later called the "Heavenly Hundred" by the people, died heroically.

Today, when Ukraine is once again facing invaders who have been trying to claim its territory, achievements, and culture for themselves for centuries, we especially honor the memory of those who laid down their lives for our independence. These are names that no occupier, leader, or tsar can erase. They are engraved in our hearts and will live on in future generations of Ukrainians.

On February 20, 2014, the largest number of people from the Heavenly Hundred died - 48. Every year on this date, we remember this feat. It should strengthen and return us to the main goal - a peaceful, flourishing Ukraine under the yellow-blue flag: from Chop to the Red Star, from Gremyach to Cape Sarich.

Today, the charity foundation "Direct Inclusion" lights a candle in memory of the Heavenly Hundred Heroes together with the whole nation.
