How to get compensation for broken windows from a missile attack?
05.01.2024
For almost two years of the war, all Ukrainians have learned the rule of "two walls," which implies a strict prohibition to approaching windows during the attacks. All because the windows are the first to fly out during the blast wave, and the fragments of enemy missiles and drones can demolish whole walls during the fall. Today, we are talking about getting compensation for the damage caused to your home during a terrorist attack. The Charity Fund "Direct Inclusion" has prepared a short instruction.
1. Document the damage
As soon as the attack is over, and if it's safe, return home and take pictures of all the damage. These photos must be uploaded to the Diia (section " yeVidnovlennia" and "Payment application").
2. Make the card for compensation
If you do not yet have a bank card in Diia to credit the funds, make and add one online. Once the commission has reviewed and approved your application for assistance, the compensation will appear on this account.
3. Contact other authorities
In many communities, there are separate assistance programs for the owners of damaged houses. For example, Kyiv residents can apply to the district's social welfare department and count on a one-time payment of 10,000 hryvnias.
People from vulnerable categories (pensioners, large families, single mothers, IDPs, people with disabilities) can additionally apply to the Red Cross.
4. Request materials for temporary repairs
Immediately after an attack, volunteers usually arrive on the scene to provide plywood and foil for the temporary coverage of the window until compensation decisions are made.
