The enemy relentlessly continues to attack Ukrainian civilians with missiles and drones. As a result of the bombing, people are injured and die, residential buildings are destroyed, and whole towns are burned to the ground. Those, who happened to be victims of those attacks, face the necessity of medical treatment, housing restoration, or even the need to find a new home.

Except for the physical loss, people live through psychological torture: experience severe stress, and may get into a state of serious shock without even important documents or clothes. During rescue operations, emergency services search for victims under the wreckage and provide the survivors with medical treatment, warmth, and care. The Charity Fund “Direct Inclusion” informs: that everyone can support a person who got in such a situation. The most important thing is knowing how to do that, which is what we are telling you in this abstract.

If you happened to be near the attack area

Psychologists say some universal methods exist to ease the victim`s condition after the attack. Those are the following:

• Get sure that you and the victim are in a safe place;
• Stay in the victim's sight, and do not shout or make sudden movements when approaching them. Speak calmly, say hello, and offer some help. Analyze the person`s condition and make sure that they hear and understand you;
• The victim may scream, cry, tremble, freeze, and not respond to words, i.e., they may be under stress – be prepared for different situations;
• If the victim is ready to contact you, get them some guidance. You should ask the name of the person and ask them to describe the whereabouts and events around them;
• Help the victim sit down, offer to drink, and cover with something warm;
• Stay with the person constantly, listen to them carefully, and call a doctor if necessary.

The help must be needed!

Another important rule – do not bother people with your help. If a person wants to spend time alone, you should let them. Professionals say that forcing a contact may only cause harm.
