The war brought suffering to all spheres of life and activities of Ukrainians. In particular, entrepreneurs, the economic frontline of the state, have suffered enormous losses. Some had to move to safer regions and make considerable efforts to keep their businesses alive. Some had to close their businesses altogether. Against this backdrop, people planning to start their businesses began abandoning such ideas. Is everything as scary as it may seem at first glance, and is it worth creating something new in these hard times? The Charitable Foundation "Direct Inclusion" advises.

"Is it worth it?"

Firstly, you need to understand that the responsibility for any decisions lies with you, not with advisors from your friends or the Internet. When you think about your business, you must draw up an implementation plan, from the idea or the product to the budget. If you have concerns about the security of the project, it is better to postpone plans for peacetime. In addition, now is not the best time to invest all your savings in an idea or take out a loan. War is a challenge for the largest companies, let alone startups. That is why you need a financial cushion "just in case" first, and then you need to build your business.

Tips for those who dare

The Charitable Foundation "Direct Inclusion" has created a small list of tips for wartime entrepreneurs.

  1. You need to realize that your business is significant. The war has exacerbated the shortage of needs of Ukrainians. Moreover, consumption of domestic products is a trend nowadays. It is your chance to realize yourself and support the country's economy. Find a niche people need, accept the new realities, turn on your creativity, and make your offers enjoyable.
  2. The next important step is to monitor national and international programs to support Ukrainian entrepreneurship. Affordable and concessional loans, the UNIC program for small and medium-sized businesses, the "Do Your Own" project for businessmen from small towns and villages, Google for Startups Ukraine Support Fund, the USF platform for projects aimed at winning Ukraine, and many others. The main thing is to keep going on this worthy path!
  3. Set a goal. It should be global, specific, achievable, realistic, and relevant. Consider the income you want, look for platforms to support and feed your business, and check out inventory and staff. Do not forget to be clear about the timeline.
  4. A lot will depend on your faith in business. Be prepared that your startup will require efforts and hard work that will bear fruit only if you are committed.

Today, the role of businesses in supporting the front line is significant. So, having joined the ranks of entrepreneurs, remember regular donations.
